Online job vacancies continue to rise

The number of job vacancies advertised online continued to grow in June, according to the latest Jobs Online index. Overall, online vacancies increased by 2.3% in June 2011, compared to May 2011, and skilled vacancies went up by 1.5%. “This shows that employment prospects are continuing to improve,” says the Department of Labour’s Head of Research and Analysis, Vasantha Krishnan. “This is supportive of other indicators that point to a gradual increase in economic activity. Recruitment ad’s boom good news for job hunters

The employment market is looking up if the latest job advertisiement statistics from Trademe jobs website is anything to go by. The April-June quarter shows a 27 percent on the same period last year. An analysis of over 39,000 jobs listed on Trademe Jobs between April and June found all the main centres had enjoyed year on year growth of over 20 percent, and Canterbury's listings soared 65 percent.
