Briscoes fined after customer trips over box

Briscoe Group has been fined $75,000 plus reparations after a customer tripped over a carton in the aisle of the Manukau Briscoes Homeware store in December last year. Briscoes was ordered to pay fines to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) and $4000 in reparations to the customer, in addition to a $5000 contribution already paid. Boy killed by Council mower

A 4-year-old boy died after he was run over by a council tractor-mower at a Hastings park last night. The "bubbly" boy was believed to have been playing around the tractor at Kirkpatrick Park in Camberley, when he was killed about 5.20pm. Company fined for workers fall from icy roof

Rotorua company The Housemovers Limited has been fined $54,000 and ordered to pay a worker $40,000 after he was seriously injured after a fall from an icy roof. The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment brought two charges under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.
